snails trail blocks from Making A Lather

I finished as many blocks as I could with the big pieces that were already cut. I was too lazy to cut more, so I started blocks over again with the smaller pieces.

I really, really like making snail trail. And I really really like using shirt plaids, so, this is a win, win for me. Sometimes I have to sew off the list for my sanity.

What I don't understand is how pieces go rogue on a 'block on board' accuquilt die. I use a whole piece of fabric for each block - up to 4. and I end ...

progress from Making A Lather

I have 5 quilts I am actively progressing on, but, every now and then, I slip in a few blocks for fun. I have been concentrating on my hunter's star blocks as leader/ enders. Each block takes 3 passes.

So, I have neglected my official leader / ender project -fish school/go fish. I have missed them. I did just a few so that they would not feel too abandoned.

go fish leader/ender challenge

A new goal for March from Making A Lather

March is here already, and, so far, it is coming in like a lamb which means it will leave like lion. I have a one monthly goal for March. I have the top ready for shine, and, I want to quilt it and bind it this month. I started this pattern in January 2020 as part of the rainbow scrap challenge. After I started, I was smitten.  It is a free pattern offered on moda bake shop. It will be nice to get it finished.

While I am waiting on the next color for March and the rainbow scrap challenge ...

WIP progress from Making A Lather

I am working on clue 6 of rhododendron trail mystery quilt from quiltville. I cut the yellow pieces from my 2 1/2 inch strip bin to size, but, I just used WOF, or close to that, of neutrals. They will naturally be cut to the right size when I subcut. That saved me one step.

I cut the red pieces too.

Another early morning and I might be ready to make a block.

I started sewing the  dart -a free pattern jelly roll quilt into rows at my Tuesday group. All the strips start the same and then, a ...

borders from Making A Lather

Day 7 of January and I have not bought any fabric - This is a big deal for me. I wonder when the shakes will stop. Of course, I haven't been anywhere, but, I know how to use the submit now button on a website. I have at least 2 feet of floor cleaned up and vacuumed back from my sewing machine. For as nice as it feels, why can't I remember to keep it that way. I am barely energetic enough to sew. I have been trying to finish the gazillion hourglass blocks for rhododendron mystery. I thought ...

rhododendron and scraps from Making A Lather

I cut and pieced the second clue of rhododendron mystery quilt this week. It doesn't look like much, but it was a lot of cutting and piecing. And I was off with my numbers and didn't have enough to finish the opposite colorway.

I did cut the rest of the wings.

I have been cutting scraps again. I can't take much of a break from scraps or they will overpower me.

I have a few ideas for the rainbow scrap challenge at so scrappy next year that will use strings and crumbs.

10 inch -1 pound 4 ...

boho heart progress from Making A Lather

I have avoided working on boho heart until the last minute. It seems complicated to me. But, I finally sat down and sewed a section together, and it has encouraged me to continue. This is the top left part of the heart.

I have the blocks ready to go for the next "row" under this piece.

recreational sewing from Making A Lather

The more I concentrate on finishes, the more I need recreational sewing in addition. I haven't been in a hurry to finish these 2 projects. They are mostly cut, and all I need to do is sit and sew. They are not part of my goals to finish them yet. Other wedding ring blocks here

5 quilts November 22, 2021 from Making A Lather

We have spent the last few days cooking turkey. We decided to smoke one this year. I decided that if the price didn't drop below the price of a chicken, I wasn't going to buy it. We aren't having anyone for thanksgiving, so I would only buy one for the freezer. The price was good so Mr. Turkey is all safely gathered in for the winter. We have already had "leftovers" - sandwhiches - and soon, noodles. yum. I miss family thanksgiving dinners.

aqua question mark from Making A Lather

It's going to be a beautiful fall day here- Blue sky and sunshine but 32 degrees. We have no real commitments and can stay home and do some work. We had three doctor appointments last week -all is well.

I worked on the full stop quilt that Angela is doing for the rainbow scrap challenge at so scrappy.

I procrastinated the question mark block since the color was aqua. I finally have them made and ready to go. They weren't as difficult as I was afraid they would be for me. I think I am missing the dots ...

5 quilts November 15 from Making A Lather

Hubbly and I attended a small quilt show in Indy Saturday, It was a great little trip that put us in Indy. It has been awhile since we have been to the "big" city and it was a bit overwhelming. The traffic and massively growing areas were surprising. We hardly recognized the place.

We stopped at a quilt store that I enjoy, and I was sad to see the cost of fabric has really increased. There was no shortage of options, and the store was busy. Now that we are retired, we avoid most places on the weekend, so it ...

5 quilts report from Making A Lather

Here is my 5 quilts progress report.

1.checkered past -All the blocks are together and I am planning a piano key border. I can use the leftover bits and clean up some scraps at the same time. The sashing acts as the inner border.

2. fish school - this is a year long project for the quiltville leader/ender challenge. I am keeping up with a few each week. I have sewed all I had cut, so I need to cut some more.

3. scrappy mountain majesties - I started the layout on the library floor meeting room. I took apart ...

dashing from Making A Lather

I did orange dashes for the full stop quilt that Angela is doing. I need to do the question mark, and I think I am missing another one. This is part of the rainbow scrap challenge at so scrappy. I can't figure out a way to get the whole row in a picture.... yet. It would help if I had more empty flat spaces.

Yesterday at Friday group, we had some impressive quilts getting close to a finish.

fishing from Making A Lather

While I was shopping at Joann fabrics, I ran into an old high school friend. The fact that she was in a fabric store told me why we were friends. haha.  We haven't seen each other in 10 years. She is still the the smart, funny, sweet person she was all those years ago.

Connie, me

I have more fish finished as a leader/ender. I don't know how I want to arrange them in a quilt. Right now, I like this one best.

I decided to sew a few hsts for the wedding ring I am doing ...
